A red wine produced from Zinfandel grapes that are riper than those used for the table wine style. These wines are notable for the intensity and complexity of their fruit flavors and often contain a “jammy” component in both bouquet and flavor. Within the big style is a range of approaches to acid and tannin, from softer wines with less acid and tannin, in which the fruit is the focus, to highly extracted wines with significant structure and tannin levels. These wines have alcohol levels typically between 14.5% and 16%.
Showing the influence of the breezy and fog-laced Oak Knoll District, offers rich, plush fruit, delicate acidity and a structure defined by well-ripened tannins. Layered notes of black cherry, raspberry, sandalwood, bergamot, cloves, blueberry, and balsam on the nose. Delicate, yet rich with plum compote, violets, and baking spice on the palate. An ideal vintage of the Black Chicken that, with proper cellaring, will continue to improve for the next 5-7 years
The Prisoner was inspired by the “mixed blacks” first made by the Italian immigrants who originally settled in Napa Valley. The Prisoner is now the most recognized Napa Valley red blend, leading the resurgence of interesting blends by incorporating Zinfandel with the unlikely mix of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Syrah, and Charbono.
Features enticing aromas of Bing cherry, dark chocolate, clove, and roasted fig. Persistent flavors of ripe raspberry, boysenberry, pomegranate, and vanilla linger harmoniously, for a smooth and luscious finish.

Saldo doesn’t fit in, but that doesn’t matter. When you’re from “here and there” (that’s what Saldo means in Latin), you don’t need to form to one, single place. That’s the funny thing about expectations—they’re made to be broken.
Dark ruby color with bold aromas of black licorice, black pepper, cherry, and baking spice. The entry is rich, full, and scintillating. The palate is mouthwatering and smooth with a hint of chocolate. The finish is voluptuous with soft, velvety tannins.
Bright violet in the glass. As it’s being poured, the aromatics hit squarely on the nose with a perception of sweetness: pure brambly raspberry juice and blueberry preserves with a hint of white pepper and High Sierra forest floor. Yet, the perceived sweetness on the nose is just that, perceived, and doesn’t carry through to the palate. Lush and enveloping with a beam of acidity, notes of blackberry pie, plum and kirsch flourish. Ultra-round tannins and lingering raspberry, the wine finishes in slow-motion.

Color: Ruby. Initial aromas of tangy cherry and berry, spice and black tea. Elements of fruit, tannin and acid in balance on the lively palate. Bittersweet cocoa, baking cherries, blackberry jam, straw and spice among the flavors and aromas as the wine opens. Pairing thoughts: seared red meat; a tender, grilled lamb chop; dry-rubbed barbecue of any kind (without too much sweet or heat); dark meat chicken cooked in red wine with mushrooms and herbs; pasta with a savory, meaty, reduced sauce. Balanced, firmly structured and versatile.
